wenn ich die beschaffenheit des photographischen bildes beschreiben soll, sehe ich als erstes: immer nur auf etwas zeigen zu müssen, anstatt etwas zu sein. die wirklichkeit des photos, sein material, der stoff aus dem es besteht, das ist zuletzt immer nur »die welt da draußen«. nicht die wirklichkeit des stofflichen bildes als solches. diese »welt da draußen« wird in meinem kopf aber wesentlich geschaffen durch photographien, durch apparate, durch kameras. ein teufelskreis. wie kann ich das photobild zum leben bringen, ohne mir lebendigkeit vom lebendigen »motiv« nur ausgeborgt zu haben? morandi genügte eine handvoll leerer gefäße für ein künstlerisches lebenswerk. kann ein lebendiges bild auch als »lichtbild« entstehen? vielleicht, wenn ich die welt um mich herum als reflektierendes objekt entdecke für bildneri-
sche variationen, übergänge, transitionen zwischen bild und welt, licht und raum, form und erinnerung, leuchten und verfall … ?

to describe the consistence of the photographic image, I have to recall such: it has always merely to point at something, instead of to be something. the reality of a photographic image, its material evidence, simply refers to an »outside world«, not to the existing, the touchable image itself. but the »outside world« we experience is created within our heads essentially by means of photography, by means of the camera. a circulus vitiosus. how I can succeed giving an image its own vividity without borrowing this vividity from »real life«? painter morandi was fully content with collecting a handful of empty kitchen potteries to realize his surviving paintings. can I create living and expressive »image of lightings«? not to catch the real instant, but to rebuild it for sudden own idea, to which the living world around has to offer no more no less than shadow and reflexion for successions of interior variations, for transitions between image and reality, light and space, form and remembrance, radiance and perishing … ?
